Qatar

Qatar, a country on the Arabian Gulf, combines the past and the future in a fascinating way.

Modern architecture meets centuries-old tradition, lively markets stand side by side with luxurious hotels, and vast desert landscapes form an exciting contrast to the glittering skyline of Doha.

Arrival in Doha

The magic of Qatar is evident from the moment you look out of the aeroplane window: golden sand dunes meet a sparkling skyline on the horizon. Hamad International Airport welcomes travellers like a palace of glass and light – a promise of glamour and oriental hospitality.

Modernity meets tradition

Doha is a kaleidoscope of contrasts. On the Corniche, the waterfront promenade, a curved line stretches between the sea and the skyscrapers, which glow in spectacular colours at night. Just a few streets away, you can immerse yourself in the past: Souq Waqif smells of saffron, incense and cardamom. Traders offer hand-woven fabrics, filigree jewellery and traditional perfume oils. A stroll here is like a journey through the stories of the Orient.

World-class culture

A highlight for cultural travellers is the Museum of Islamic Art – an architectural masterpiece by I.M. Pei. It houses treasures from over 1,400 years of history. The National Museum of Qatar, whose shape is reminiscent of a desert rose, also takes visitors on a journey through the country's past and future.

Adventure in the desert

Just an hour's drive from Doha, a completely different Qatar awaits: the endless silence of the desert. A jeep ride over the high sand dunes is not for the faint-hearted – but it is an unforgettable experience. In the evening, when the sun sinks into the sand like a red fireball, you can experience the real feeling of 1001 Nights. You can spend the night in Bedouin camps, where Arabic coffee and freshly grilled fish are served.

Enjoyment with a view

Qatar is also a culinary adventure. In addition to international Michelin-starred restaurants, local specialities beckon: machbous, a spicy rice dish with meat or fish, is one of the classics. Particularly enjoyable: dinner by the water with a view of the illuminated skyline – a treat for the eyes and the palate.

A country on the move

Qatar is constantly reinventing itself. Modern architecture, international events and investment in education make it an exciting destination – not only for football fans since the 2022 World Cup. Those who embrace the mix of luxury, tradition and adventure will be rewarded with unforgettable impressions.
